Art, Coffee, Tea and Blogs

So this week I’ve got a few special blogs and sites for you;

Art Review

This twice-monthly mini magazine will keep you up to date with everything that’s preventing ArtReview’s editorial staff and contributors from getting a good night’s sleep, plus all the latest news and gossip from the international artworld. In addition we’ll bring you previews and reviews of exhibitions, biennials, art fairs and auctions, as well as anything else we feel like making a fuss about.

Want to go down the rabbit hole and come up in a far away place this is the one for you. I can spend hours just looking at magazines. And not just art.

Painting Perceptions

I took the following from their site

This site started with an emphasis on painters who had some connection to observed vision in their work but over time the blog grew to become more inclusive; as much perceptions on painting as it is about perceptual painting. We examine a wide range of stylistic approaches from extremely loose abstraction to precise realism and everything in between.

That’s it for now. I’m off to the studio to finish a couple of new pieces. You’ll see them posted soon! And remember…

Imagination is never still. The marks we make are verbs

Donald Kolberg graduated with a Fine Arts Degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He taught at the Los Angeles School of Art and co-founded Art Core, an organization dedicated to the open dialogue and display of the work of emerging artists. He continued his Master studies at Otis Art Institute. While at Otis Art Institute his teacher and main influence was internationally recognized painter Arnold Mesches. In Artcore he worked under the guidance of Lydia Takashita. With their teaching Donald learned the value of depth, texture and form in images and surface. He incorporated this into his concept of Life Forms, the portrayal of the human figure as a landscape of life and a celebration of form through Sculpture and Painting.
